“Petals Galore” Demonstration with Susan Phillips

How lucky are we at Sevenoaks Flower Club to have such a talented demonstrator as Susan Phillips at our club? Fresh from her Gold Medal win at the Chelsea Flower Show in May, Susan joined us earlier this month with her “Petals Galore” demonstration. The event was very popular: informative, entertaining and enjoyed by all. Here is the finished result:

Bright pink gerbera daisies complemented with softer purples on gorgeous glossy green foliage, a real delight with quite a tropical feel!

We were also privileged to be shown the structure that Susan won a Gold Medal for at Chelsea Flower Show 2018, still in all its white glory. You can read more about this beautiful work, titled “April showers bring forth May Flowers” on our blog post: Susan Phillips Wins a Gold Medal at Chelsea.

Understandably, the piece could not be replicated in full - the hyacinth pips were threaded on to steel grass, which was very time-consuming and expensive to do! But it was wonderful to hear more about how it was made, and the processes involved.

Susan also gave us some fascinating insight and background detail on the workings of entering an individual exhibit.  How many of us knew that you get locked in while at Chelsea?
