The World of Sevenoaks Flower Club

Often it is easier to place a posy of flowers into a vase and lovely as it is, for me, it is far more rewarding to arrange the flowers in a simple design in order to enjoy all the varied colours and shapes rather than having them all massed together.

Whatever style of arrangement it is important to have secure mechanics. This design used one and a half blocks of soaked floral foam, cut to size, the edges chamfered and a small cap of wire netting placed over the top. The netting is taped to the container.

Fine foliage is used to create an outline which is reinforced using larger and shorter leaves. This determines the size and shape of the finished design. Choose interesting and unusual foliage to give greater interest. Add the flowers of your choice. Special roses will always ensure an impact but avoid them facing in the same direction. Again place one or two flowers at the back to take the eye through the design.
